Heh, the glass chandeliers gave it away. My old computer could just barely play those 1080p (1920x1080) raws. ;D Production IG's site also had a section on the making of the anime, which discussed the CG for those chandeliers.

Le Chevalier D`Eon looks awesome in 1080p. The R1/R2-Eu anime industries need to move toward selling/providing anime in HD, but that may take a while before it's feasible. It's sad when the fansubers are able to provide what's often considered "better quality".

Even so, the DVDs look great too. As expected, Production IG provided high quality animation. The story seems promising as well, but I haven't finished it yet so I can't say too much.

Yeah, to the unsuspecting viewer they would look the same wouldn?t they? But who would have guessed that Princess Tutu had all that anthro stuff. I couldn?t even make it through the first episode. I mean, when Duck turned into that duck-girl? D: I had to call it quits right then and there. A bit too hardcore for me. ;)

At first you think ?Jezz that?s a lot of panty shots?, but what you don?t realize is it?s about to get dark and disturbing real quick. The brainwashing was bad enough. That old geezer was forcing her into being ?his little experiment?. Having her endure the ?fifty bird assault? on the morning of the first day? .... Doesn?t Ahiru even realize the abuse Mute has to take for her?!? .... Also, Mute?s roommate Fakia :/. That, and neko-sensei?s constant threats: ?If you aren?t quiet..?, ?If you aren?t serious..?, aren?t this.. aren?t that.. >:D ?You?ll have to marry me!? And the way he stands behind her in class ? o_o; cre~apy! Not to mention that anteater Ahiru is gong to have to face.. I don?t even want to know what it?s capable of! (ok, that?s about enough vague and off color rambling.)

Hint: sarcastic commentary abound. Just watch the show if you don?t believe it. ;)

Edit: also, very slimmed down and cleaned up art style in the anime adaptation. I kind of liked the gaudiness of the manga, it seemed... fitting considering the period of history it represents. Of course, it would be close to impossible to animate, just like trying to copy O! Great's art style in an anime.

Also, I personally believe that Princess Tutu is, in fact, screwy AND a "cute" children's anime. Honestly, I saw a japanese potty-training video that resembeled Princess Tutu, and it was pretty wierd (especially the talking anime toilet).

I'm going to guess Dokuro-chan season 2.

Character designs (in fact the characters themselves) look the same. The back of his head seems to fit Sakura, and the bald guy is suggesting its the character from Dokuro-chan.

I haven't seen the second OVA so I'm not 100 percent sure. The back of his head also reminds me of 'Crescent Love', but its probably just the typical haircut.

Also, about Princess Tutu, I'm not sure if it's really screwy, or a cute children's anime....


It can be what ever you make of it; however, I'm pretty sure it?s for older kids and young adults. It touches on some complicated subject mater, but I believe the show is geared to be entertaining to kids. Anything that?s ?questionable? (such as neko-sensei and various situations) seems mostly for entertainment value, and to give a clear impression of the characters. I had never finished it so I can't speak for the series as a whole. Though, for the right adults I'm sure it has enough of a draw to keep them entertained. Come to think of it, I'm not sure of exactly why I hadn't finished it yet. I found the soundtrack appealing, as well as the comedy and the expressive characters. That, and the viewer experiences the show through an innocent looking glass (Ahiru), and it?s through this lens that both the story and art are reflected, and thus despite the darker content, the themes can be delivered in a light-hearted manner. -- Even during bouts of despair the viewer is presented with an optimistic view as Ahiru comes to each character's aid and helps them persevere. (Which in this case is defiantly a draw for me).

As I have yet to see the end, I'm not sure of just how much Ahiru's altruistic character evolves, but as she confronts various issues (saving people and collecting pieces of the prince?s heart) she also learns quite a bit about herself.

At first I hadn't finished it because I didn't have access to the rest of the series, but I obtained the rest quite a while ago. It reminds me that I might need to take another look back at Kodocha as well. Still, I believe Princess Tutu currently has priority.

Brief ramblings:

Revelation. Confrontation. Resolve. As each situation unfolds before the viewers in the form of a play; Ahiru discovers the missing pieces of Mute?s heart, confronts the difficulties of dealing with these lost emotions, and then actualizes the desirable aspects of each, giving the troubled characters a reason for embracing their emotion.

The prince, being void of emotion, and any understanding of his feelings, is an excellent element for use as a study of human emotion. As Ahiru returns the scattered pieces of the prince?s broken heart, she (as well as the viewers) are able to carefully explore both the burden and the rewards that each emotion caries.

Princess Tutu is warned that she should not confess to the prince, for she will cease to exist that very instant, but as she returns his emotions will she be able to abstain from getting too close to mute? Or will she disappear?


I have several points I want to present (touching upon the characters, plot, etc), but I need to patch them together (and also need to present a brief summary of the plot to help to put them in context). I may wait until I?ve watched the rest of the show before continuing, but it?s defiantly making me want to revisit it. I was just motivated to type out a bit of discussion and went with it. :/ A cop-out I confess, but I really shouldn?t spend time on such things until I have at least completed watching the series. >_<

Also, we (er.. I?) need an Ajax ?hide text/spoiler? box so that stuff like this doesn?t take up too much space. Or.. I should probably just post it else where and then link to it, huh?

Yeah, I just found that scene, but I can?t for the life of me remember watching the curry republic. I however do remember the wood glue club and the approval contract, and all the rest of the last two parts. I was torturing a friend of mine with it and must have forgotten to finish watching those parts. :D I guess I?ll finish watching them sometime today or tomorrow.

I hadn&#39;t checked out the second season because it wasn?t a priority, and I was waiting on fansubbers to play a few rounds of king of the hill and filtrate a bit before making a choice. It still seems that the choices are a bit thin. :/
