< Can&#39;t be terribly attached to the Olympics, and here&#39;s my reasoning: My country is the great melting pot: every single race has somehow added it&#39;s virtues into it&#39;s mix. We, in our sheer diversity and size of our team, somehow represent the rest of the world. Of course we don&#39;t really, but we contain so many elements of the rest of the world, I find it hard cheering for us. It&#39;s not like during WWII or the Cold War where the games meant something symbolic, now it&#39;s just countries. Though China is in a way a rising "opponent" for lack of a better word, there&#39;s just no reason to get up in arms about it.
V Understands that I would probably watch the opening ceremony anyway, if my TV didn&#39;t get a total of 2 channels.

A little background: we have 4 major sports in the U.S.: American football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. These sports all have world-class athletes in them, playing on dozens of teams in dozens of cities nationwide. Forgetting hockey for now, the only one that&#39;s really played worldwide is basketball... and until a few years ago we didn&#39;t let our professional players (i.e., the ones from our league teams) play in the Olympics. Now that we do, our team has become infinitely stronger.

Why should I? Never said Black Lagoon was bad, It was a really great watch, but nevertheless over the top at times. I don&#39;t mind ridicilous effects from time to time, but c&#39;mon - slicing bullets with a katana? Still, it&#39;s far from the ridicilousness of Noir, where two girls shoot down legions of enemies without even taking cover. Ever.
