Because, this is the internet. Through the protection of distance and a slight veil of anonymity, people feel inclined to say cruel things to one another that they'd usually be too tactful to do in real life. Additionally, this site is partially based around the critiquing of videos, so it's only natural that some users seem like critics of everything, a force of habit, if you will.

Commonplace speech. Pure and simple. Try going to a public area and not hearing things just as bad as what you hear on this site.

A lot of them follow the Villain of the Week Format. Mazinger Z, GaoGaiGar, Might Gaine, G Gundam, Grendizer, and so on, and so on, and so on. Sure there are a lot of exceptions, but many Super Robot anime just do the same thing with different characters and settings. Of course, the finale is usually quite different. Take G Gundam for example: The final battle was relatively different when compared to all the other battles on that show. Or at the very least, it was a longer battle than usual.

There's actually a distinct split between Mecha anime. Super Robots (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robot) usually have ridiculous powers that defy physics while Real Robots (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Robot) are more like actual military vehicles than untouchable supermachines.

That is to say, Real Robots can break down, take refueling, and are piloted by regular soldiers rather than "chosen heroes".

There are also "Hybrid Robots" that have traits of both. Evangelion and RahXephon, for instance.

Haven't seen Diebuster yet, so I can't really comment on it, but I'll take your word for it. Also, I was really only comparing them for a few reasons:

1. Gainax made both of them

2. The Inazuma Kick is shared between both shows

3. Yelled Attacks

4. Physics defying finishers (Buster Beam, Giga Drill Break, et cetera)

EDIT: Though if you want to be technical about it, one of my submissions involves Fist of the North Star, a show about the world being destroyed by a nuclear war, so that could be considered apocalyptic, I guess. Of course, the clip really didn't mention that, but I guess it'd be implied. Then again, I doubt a lot of people would pick up on that in the first place.

Yes, I do. They always made a huge finale for each season, due to them not knowing whether or not they'd get renewed for another one. Plenty of shows do this, apparently. Though it usually ends up backfiring. Take for example, Teen Titans: The creators were convinced that season 5 was supposed to be the last season, so they made the biggest ending possible. Then it got renewed for a new season and had to come up with some new stuff.
