Emphasis on slightly. And a fourth ending which was just a giant middle finger to the fans reminsinent of EoE (unlike EoE, it was completely out of place in the series), and I still have issues that the endings did not resolve, such as what was the point of galactic readiness, if it does absolutely nothing in the end game? The God Child's flawed logic? Completely ****ting over the themes established by the past two games? :/
Mass Effect 3 was the final nail in Bioware's coffin for me. It reeks of typical EA bull****, the free multiplayer DLC's are okay, but that can barely hold it's own.

Depends, 1 (not completely sure about this since it's been a long time since I played this one) and 3 are kinda like the PS3 Atelier games in that focus on more on doing side quests to get some form of rank up up in order to progress the plot, but with no time limit (Making them a lot better the the Arland sub trilogy), 2 is a lot different though, being more about exploration and it's cliche narrative.

I, too, found that Fallout 3 had a better setting; however, New Vegas had much more gameplay depth and built on to the existing features in Fallout 3 along with actual moral choices.

I'm fairly certain that many have already started boycotting Capcom's products. The result? The cancellation of projects that you wanted to see completed.

I can understand your frustration. It is truly painful to follow a company that has promised to release a product that you desperately want only to have it cancelled without any apparent warning (though the signs are often obvious in hindsight). However, while your complaints may be heard and agreed with by the masses, Capcom isn't going to care for anyone who doesn't buy their games.

The reason they've cancelled and delayed projects in the first place is because they're losing faith in their investments. If they produce a product that doesn't bring in a decent profit, they won't release any more similar titles unless there is a visible demand for it. Thus, a massive boycott of their products will only convince them that the US market is no longer worth their time and resources.

Finished KH Dream Drop Distance, while it's nice that one of the spin offs is not trying to fill in the between of the first two games, making the convoluted mess of a plot worse, and actually trying to progress the overall mess, it would have been nice if they did it in a way that did not make all the back story even more confusing. Just finished Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance.

The drop system is really annoying. Let's get that out of the way...

I like how it actually attempted to streamline the plot, including summaries of all previous games in the series (even the ones that make no sense).

In the end, (SPOILERS!) This game would have made just as much sense if you only controlled Riku the whole time but still saw Sora's cutscenes. In the end, you finish the game as Riku so it's almost as if no matter what you do as Sora, in the end it doesn't really matter. Riku bails out your ass again.

And oh yes. Xehanort throws down the gauntlet! Setting the stage for Kingdom Hearts 3! The seven of light versus the thirteen of darkness! The X-Blade reforged? WHO WILL WIN IN THE END?!

Achieved 100% on Guilty Crown: Lost Xmas, earlier today. I guess I could give a summary of what happens in Lost Christmas:
Phase 1: Just the demo and part of Phase 5
Phase 2 "The Nightmare Before Christmas": Scrooge wakes up in a lab with amnesia, accidentally kills a scientist via grabbing him with his right hand, which gives people super-crystal-cancer. He finds Carol, who implies that she knew him. They escape the lab by killing EVERYTHING (They also fought an Endlave, but that thing did nothing but friendly-fire).
Phase 3 "We are No Angels": Scrooge and Carol are in a city during Christmas, then they decide to go back to the lab for some interrogation shenanigans. They were told to find Ouma Kurosu for answers of the Super-Crystal-Cancer. Turns out that Scrooge has - what is essentially - a beta version of the Void Genome, which lets him grab voids... but gives people who aren't Carol super-crystal-cancer. Scrooge also got amnesia because the beta Void Genome caused some neurological trauma. Pretentious "The Adam and Eve of a new generation" occurs.
Phase 4 "Christmas Evil": Scrooge and Carol are chased by soldier-people. Scrooge pulls out a void-blunderbuss from Carol, which launches a limitless supply of nails. Then another trigger-happy Endlave comes along; however, Scrooge's blunderbuss breaks (which should kill Carol, but it doesn't, and this is explained later). Scrooge pulls out a new void from Carol wich is some super-rifle that destroys the Endlave. Afterwords, Scrooge and Carol visit Kurosu... BUT HE'S DEAD. They ran into Shuichiro (who killed Kurosu), but he ran as soon as he saw you. They also run into Haruka, Kurosu's wife, afterwards, but that isn't really important. Scrooge and Carol chase after Shuichiro, and find him; however, they get ****blocked by Present, a girl assassin with the ability to manipulate the super-crystal-cancer. Then Past comes, who is in an Endlave and is Present's fellow assassin, to **** up more ****. Then Mana explodes causing the Lost Christmas event. Past rushes to protect Shuu and Gai from the wreckage. Scrooge then finds Gai in the wreckage and pretty much makes Gai into what he is in Guilty Crown.
Phase 5 "Gremlins": Fightan, fightan, fightan. Not much to it. Scrooge does use this nightmare-fuel void that eats whatever it wants. It's revealed that Past is Shuu and Mana's mother kept alive by life-support and is pretty damn insane. Fightan, fightan, fightan, new void that essentially shields them from just about everything, but that breaks later on, so it doesn't really mater.
Phase 6 "Die Hard": Short. Scrooge still fighting Past with void spam, but he kills her. Nothing else to it...
Phase 7 "It's a Wonderful Life": Mana's back and she's bitching about Shuu. Scrooge and Carol attempt to stop the explosion from occuring again, so they go to the roof of the building that Mana's on and attempt to kill her, but Scrooge can't kill her because Mana's got some wierd-magic **** going for her. Present then confesses her love for Scrooge and Scrooge just gets confused. Everybody falls down for some reason, then everybody wakes up in some super-crystal-cancer world. Present mounts Scrooge and gives him some tongue, but Scrooge bites her tongue. Carol know has crystal cancer and it is revealed that Present is genderless and lives mutually with the super-crystal-cancer. Then Scrooge pulls his Void magic and uses a chalice that is filled with locusts that devour Present. Later, it is revealed by Carol that she was to be the "Eve" and Scrooge was to be the "Adam". Scrooge isn't pulling out Carol's void, rather he's pulling out the voids of their children (Scrooge had a lot of sex with Carol before he got amnesia.). Scrooge then pulls out one last void with is a ****ton of thorns with destroy everything with the exception of Scrooge's right arm, which is used to create the three void genomes in the anime. Also, in the true end, it's revealed that Shuu's new arm is actually Scrooge's void. (Scrooges arm is normal in the normal ending; however, it's all void-like in the true end. We also see Shuu using the arm.)

Started playing Cyber Knight. Would've gotten the PC-Engine version rather than the SNES one, but couldn't find an English Patch of that. Sort of a strange game. It's like a traditional turn-based RPG infused with turn based strategy elements. You run around a very small battlefield and attempt to trap enemies with cluster**** formations. The random battle rate is a bit too high, but I'm enjoying it so far.

It's 20$, basically the same old game, but they overhauled the infinity engine fixing over 400 bugs, adding a bunch of content including bringing all the kits and stuff from BG2 and ToB into BG, adding new classes like the Blackguard ( http://forum.baldurs...-kit-details/p1 ) which sounds awesome.

Still using AD&D and still the same old graphics, but personally I feel it's well worth 20$ and I encourage all of you to buy it. Please don't steal it, if they do well enough in sales with this and BG2, they said they'd make plans to develop Baldur's Gate 3, which many of us old school RPGers have been longing for.

To give you a rundown on how Baldur's Gate works, it's isometric (your viewpoint is stationary at an angle to the playing field, is a sort of freeform RPG in that you choose where to go, who to talk to, whether to be evil or good, involves a lot of time spent in character creation (or not if you prefer), a six character party which you can either build news characters for or obtain npc companions throughout the game all of whom are powerful and have interesting backstories and sidequests. You can pause time to ready your commands, resume time and continue directing the combat.

I won't spoil the story for you in case you're new to the story, but it's pretty epic.

There are so many ways that this new FF announcement is a slap in the face to FF fans.

Seems it will take place in-between 4 and 5. Kojima referring to it as the Prolouge of MGS 5.

I'll put 8 over 7 and 9...
X-2 was squares attempt at injecting the franchise in the female audience and for you to actually play it automatically makes you a homosexual.
as for the snes ports they're just fine, I found that its somewhat console specific... the classic PS1 plays it fine the ps2 on the other hand doesn't like it much. Most people throw that old thing out but I actually still have mine for games that sill have quirks with the ps2.

As for the worst 13 will have to take the cake, It's just way too linear. 10 I'll give them a break for making it linear just because of the platform change but for 13 theres just no excuse they should have had the hang of it by now. X-2 had FAR better game play then X, though the story did pretty much **** on FFX's ending and the 'Rule 63 Squall' + 'Charlie's Angels' crap did hurt it.


FF8 is a GOOD, if broken as hell, JRPG.
Better then FF7, but not as polished as FF9.


Now, the final fantasy + CT SNES ports to the PS1 were ****.
CGI cut scenes were pretty decent, CT had some damn fine anime cut scenes, but the games LAG LIKE SKYRIM on the PS3 before the patch.
X-2's gameplay wasn't that much better, not that it matters, if you're playing a final fantasy game for the gameplay you don't understand how gameplay works, final fantasy gameplay has always been about abnegation while the engaging part is supposed to be the story. X-2 wins at not having ****ty dungeons, but the story is what kills it from even competing with X.

FFVIII was absolute garbage, ****ty ****ty ****ty story, full of lazy writing and plotholes. You can technically accuse any Final Fantasy game of having some plotholes and a few minor contrivances but in the end most of them aren't egregiously bad about it, VIII decided it could pull anything it wanted out of its ass and tell a good story and it was dead wrong *SPOILER* The only way I can accept VIII's story is with the fan theory that Squall dies at the end of the first disc when he get's impaled and that the entire rest of the game is his dying mind trying to put everything together. I really wish I had enough faith in the writers for that game to believe that because that would make every contrived plot point make perfect sense */SPOILER*. As for VII, yeah it's probably the most overrated game of all time but the secret is, it's still a really good game. Not as good as VI of IV by a long shot but it's definitely up there.

Not always, that's a bad oversimplification. Things can stop making sense short term as long as there's long term payoff, like a character doing some actions that seem odd and out of character for him but later it turns out he was being mind controlled. Or as a rare but very specific example, the fight with Malomayotismon in Digimon, because it took place in a pocket dimension where imagination became reality, there anything that could be imagined could happen, it would be nonsensical but still fit withing the scope of the narrative (Though yes, anything the characters used their imaginations to create/do would still have to maintain consistency with how they've already been established or it would be a plot hole). It's not that what you said is wrong, if things stop making sense then probably at least one plot hole has happened (or you're watching Primer and everything is very consistent but told in a very confusing way, because engineers are not filmmakers for a reason).

That makes not even a single yoctogram of sense. That's a terrible business plan, no one is stupid enough to do that (maybe EA but yeah probably not even EA). Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds, to make an incredibly, broken to the point of not functioning at all, story line so you can explain it later with an expansion? Why would anyone do that when the far better idea is to make a really good and well crafted story then use expansions to reinforce it and make it better? Not good for sega, PSO 2 will have a hell of a time competing, as much as I love PSO a monthly subscription fee just won't fly, and the game has only ever had niche appeal I have high hopes, but low expectations for this one. Yakuza is a fine series but as a rule I'm against HD collections, the Silent Hill HD collection was garbage. Yakuza 5 will certainly be a good game but best game of this gen, hardly. It's going to have a tough enough time competing for best game of the year.

My very specific predictions:

MSRP: Varies, as rumors of multiples SKUs are surfacing. I predict the range of these different bundles to be between $249-$349USD.
Launch date: November 18, 2012. It's a Sunday, and the original Wii launched on a Sunday (November 19, 2006).

This is true nintendo announced 2 WiiU packages a basic pack which contains an 8GB WiiU with one pad and A premium 32GB WiiU With one pad,sensor bar,nunchuck and Wii mote.
The WiiU will only be able to support 2 pads at any one time.
The consoles are set to cost I think 300 dollars - 350 dollars depending which version you get.

Ok, so during Sony's TGS conference they didn't announce much but here's what they did announce

Valhalla Knights 3 For the Vita
Oboro Murasama: The Demon Blade (a remake of the Wii Game) For the Vita
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, a new entry into the series. For the Vita
Toukiden, s New IP from Tecmo Koei, for the Vita and PSP
God Eater 2, for the Vita and PSP.
An E-Reader app for the Vita
The also announced three new Vita colors, and that in November in Japan, Vita owners will get bonus from Plus
Three variates of a new PS3 model. One that is 250GB which will cost 250 USD, a 500GB one that will cost 300 USD, and right now a 12GB version that is exclusive to Europe.

I think that covers pretty much every thing.

Also Square Enix just announced Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX, and HD collection that will include the games Kingdom Hearts 1, Chain of Memories, Along with these two games, the collection will also feature all the cut-scenes from 358/2 Days.

I've never really looked into the Tales series. I can't think of any series of JRPGs I really consider myself a fan of. Sure, there are a few isolated Final Fantasy titles I like, but I wouldn't exactly call myself an FF fan.

Given my general method for acquiring games, I hardly have to take risks in the first place. That is to say, I download a lot of stuff, both demos and retail copies. Not to mention my use of rentals and used games.

No problem. I would've gone ahead and done that myself, but my monitor only has a VGA port, so I'd have to buy a VGA-to-HDMI converter first. That, and I'd need to buy some speakers, seeing as how I doubt I could just use my laptop's speakers. (Yes, I'm using an external monitor with a laptop. It's a long story.)

Straight down from the show room floor of the 2012 Tokyo Games Show comes this lengthy trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. While it is entirely in Japanese, the gameplay segments require no translations. Of particular interest is a segment around the 2:10 mark in which Raiden "hacks" a robot and then uses it to ambush an unsuspecting guard. Other then that, well stuff gets really, really crazy (talking Bayonetta levels of crazy here) at the 4:00 minute mark. Video after the break.

It's an MGS game, there is no gameplay. The entire serious is some of the most overhyped, overrated, pretentious drivel I've ever played though. I wouldn't even be this bitter about it, its good and bad points essentially balance each other out. I wouldn't hate it if not for how extremely overrated the series is. As a game it's a movie that might have been good if the pacing were better and if they took some of the unnecessary parts out. Actually overall it could have been 90% better with better pacing. This extends to a lot of the individual encounters as well. Where the game shines is actually the opening few segments and I suspect this great first impression colored the rest of the game for most the people who played it. I'll add that I'm saying 'game' singular but everything I say here applies to at least the first 3 games.

Just finished playing through the Jak and Daxter trilogy again.

Jak and Daxter, Held up incredibly well, being every bit as enjoyable as I remember it.

Jak 2, really didn't hold as well, while still being very enjoyable, there where quite a few flaws.

In terms of graphics, the first game didn't do well; however, the second and third game look pretty good. In terms of gameplay, I feel as if the platforming mechanics have withstood the test of time, while the shooting mechanics in two and three are still a bit... cumbersome and the land-vehicles still handle like ****; however, this issues were in the game originally, so I wasn't too concerned.

HD collections are pretty pointless honestly, if a game looks good its because visual artists did a great job on the aesthetics. Graphical power does contribute to this but ultimately when people talk about graphics I die a little inside, especially since most the time they mean aesthetics but really:
1. People talking so much about graphics means that a lot of money gets put into them which doesn't actually help the game look any better
2. All the money that goes into graphics could have made much bigger improvements on the game if spent elsewhere
